With the release of The Last Airbender last month, M. Night Shyamalan’s reputation – already damaged by a lukewarm response to The Village and outright critical disgust at Lady in the Water and The Happening – has reached new depths. Manoj is a one hit wonder, that’s all. The sixth sense was a big success owing to the story and the story only. I didn’t find the great style or charisma a director of higher echelons posses in Shyamalan. So I got ready for the disaster in the start itself :D
Well, yeah, if you don’t jive with his style you probably never will. To me, The Village is like a tone poem – exquisite.
